Michalis Poulimas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology. He teaches the courses “Sociology of Social Differentiation,” “Forms of Social Solidarity Organisation,” “Social Exclusion, Marginalisation and Vulnerable Social Groups,” and “Sociology of Work.” His postdoctoral research focused on youth unemployment and labour markets in the regions of the Mediterranean European Economic Area. He has also contributed to the writing and development of educational material aimed at enhancing young people's skills in resilient sectors of the economy. He has extensive professional experience in the field of refugee support, having worked for a civil non-profit organisation in Lesvos during the peak of the refugee crisis (2016–2018). He also teaches the postgraduate course “Sociology of Health” at the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
